Taylor Smith
Learning Center Coordinator | Special Education Specialist | Instructional Design Expert
Taylor Smith is an enthusiastic educator and leader with a strong passion for supporting diverse learners and enhancing educational experiences. Currently serving as the Learning Center Coordinator at Thrive Point High School in Utah, Taylor is focused on creating engaging, inclusive learning environments and providing academic support to help all students succeed. He’s also busy preparing to launch ThrivePoint Academy, a new charter school opening in the 2025-2026 school year, where he’s gaining hands-on experience through the UAPCS Charter School Leader Incubation Program.
With a background in special education, Taylor’s career began in a self-contained classroom for students with severe disabilities in the Salt Lake City School District, and he later expanded his expertise at Taylion High Desert Academy Online. He holds a Master’s in Education with a focus on Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the University of Utah, where he also earned his degree in Special Education. While at the U, Taylor had a blast as the university’s mascot, "Swoop," and as a proud member of the cheer team.
Taylor is deeply committed to community engagement and advocacy. He served as the Club President for Best Buddies International, raising awareness for individuals with disabilities, and spent two years as a volunteer missionary in South Korea. During his time there, he taught English, managed community service projects, and forged lasting relationships with local leaders. He also holds a Korean Language Certificate from Yonsei University and is a certified Professional Ski Instructor (PSIA Level 1).
When he’s not in the classroom, Taylor can be found exploring Utah’s mountains, skiing or mountain biking, and enjoying the adventure that life in the outdoors offers. Taylor’s passion for education, student success, and lifelong learning continues to drive his work, whether it's in the classroom, on the slopes, or in his community.
