General Questions
-
How is online school different than traditional school?
A traditional school is semester-driven, eight hours a day five days a week, and students have to take six or more classes. That's 40 hours a week not counting homework. Here at ThrivePoint Academy, our online school requires two classes every six weeks, which takes about 25 hours a week, and we don't have homework because all work is done at home.
-
Can I transfer my credits to ThrivePoint Academy?
Yes, talk to your current or previous school counselor to ensure your credits can transfer.
-
Do you offer classes for struggling students?
We have a lot of credit recovery students that come to us because their schools will not allow them to recover credits unless they go to summer school. If students are motivated, they can complete as many classes as possible. We had a student that started as a freshman and she completed her high school diploma in one and a half years instead of the standard four years.
-
Does ThrivePoint have an age limit?
The age limit for our school is 21 years old. If the student has their 22nd birthday while enrolled, the student must be dropped from their courses as they have “aged out.”
-
Do you have to drop out of your traditional school to take classes at ThrivePoint Academy?
We can accept dual enrollment. That means that you can still attend traditional school while taking classes at ThrivePoint (see credit recovery FAQs).
Credit Recovery
-
How long will credit recovery take?
At ThrivePoint, we generally use six-week learning periods for credit recovery. This means a student can complete two courses every six weeks. However, if you wish to accelerate your pace, you can do so. -
Who can take credit recovery courses?
Any young adult who has not already graduated high school is eligible to take and complete high school credit recovery courses until their 22nd birthday. At ThrivePoint, we offer education tuition-FREE.
-
What credit recovery courses are available?
All core subject areas, ELA, math, science, and social studies are available for credit recovery. At ThrivePoint, we also offer a wide variety of electives, including college and career preparation courses. Whatever you need, we have it!
-
How much credit can I earn by taking a credit recovery course?
Each credit recovery course offers .5 credits. You can earn as much credit as you need by taking ThrivePoint credit recovery courses. There is no limit when it comes to earning credit.
